Conferences and Events
The FFLA holds conferences twice a year in the eastern and western United States and Canada. A Board of Directors meeting is held each January and state chapter meetings are held periodically. Special events are held periodically, including lookout work days, National Historic Lookout Register presentations, and lookout and watchman camp dedications.
FFLA summer conferences are the largest of FFLA's yearly events. A typical conference allows members (and non-members/general public) to attend leadership meetings, hear programs on lookouts, fire prevention and conservation, view displays, and take part in area lookout field trips.

FFLA EASTERN CONFERENCE
New Jersey Forest Fire Service Office
Andover, New Jersey - August 12-13, 2023
You don't need to register or pay a fee in advance for the conference.
The B-B-Q meal on Saturday night is free.
There will be a meeting starting at about 8:30 A.M. on Saturday, August 12, 2023, at the New Jersey Forest Fire Service Office on U.S. Route 206, 240 Main St., Andover, N.J. Everybody is invited to be there for setting up and viewing exhibits and the meeting. Viewing exhibits will be available through the day on Saturday and during the meal on Saturday night.
We will break for lunch on your own at a selection of 2 sandwich shops, a diner, or other options nearby.
We will then take a tour to Budd Lake Fire Tower which was recently repaired and painted. Also, possibly visiting Green Pond, Catfish(photo attached of the red and white painted tower), and Culvers.
Saturday night, Section 3 of the NJFFS, will host a Bar-B-Que at the office. After the meal there will be a couple of speakers.
Sunday A.M. at around 9:00 A.M., we will meet at the office and then head up to tour Grey Towers in Milford, PA., which has the former Big Pocono, PA., Fire Tower, which has been renovated. But it can not be climbed as per Grey Towers policy at this time.
Lunch is at the Milford Diner, as per Dan Bubnis, PA. Director.
Then we will travel to the top of Camelback Ski Area and the new Big Pocono Fire Tower. A State of PA. Ranger will, hopefully, lead us to tour the new fire tower. Photo below on right.
