• The previous lookout, the summit house hotel, burned down around 1970.
• Prior to this, the observatory was becoming an unsafe structure, so it was retired as a lookout in 1966
• The present tower was erected on this site in 1966

• This tower resides inside of the Mount Wachusett State Reservation
